Greene County Parks & Trails is making it easier than ever for residents to register for programs, reserve facilities, and stay connected with community events through a transition from MyRec to RecTrac booking software. This upgrade will provide a faster, more user-friendly experience while streamlining registrations, bookings, and communication for visitors across the county and beyond!
With RecTrac, users can expect a cleaner, more intuitive online interface that simplifies the process of reserving shelters, booking campsites, and signing up for events. With easier navigation and improved search functions, users can quickly locate the activities and amenities they are looking for without unnecessary steps or confusion. Automated confirmations and reminders will also help residents stay informed about upcoming bookings, creating a more organized experience overall.
One of the biggest advantages of the new system is smoother registration and booking functionality. RecTrac offers a more efficient checkout process, helping users complete transactions quickly and securely. This software also improves mobile accessibility, making it easier to complete registrations or reservations from smartphones and tablets.
In addition to registrations and reservations, the transition also improves how the public submits contact forms and rental requests. Residents requesting facility rentals, pavilion reservations, or special-use spaces will experience a more organized and responsive process. Whether asking questions about programs or submitting event inquiries, users can expect a smoother and more reliable experience.
While the new system is scheduled to launch June 1, part of our long timeline for implementation reflects the preparation that was required behind the scenes. Greene County Parks & Trails staff have been undergoing in-depth training to ensure employees are fully prepared to assist residents and manage the new software efficiently from day one. In addition, significant work has been dedicated to migrating existing customer accounts, program information, reservations, and historical data from MyRec into the RecTrac system. Taking the additional time to complete staff training and data migration carefully helps ensure a smoother transition for both staff and the public once the system officially launches.
As Greene County Parks & Trails continues to invest in recreational opportunities and community engagement, the transition to RecTrac reflects a commitment to modernizing services and meeting the evolving needs of residents.

The updated hours will apply to all GCP&T parks. Visitors will continue to have access to trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, nature spaces, and other amenities during daylight hours, while overnight access will no longer be permitted unless specifically authorized for approved programs, events, or camping reservations.
Campsites will still be available through the reservation system, and guests with approved campsite reservations will continue to have overnight access during their stay. The new sunrise-to-sunset hours are intended for general public park access and do not eliminate permitted camping opportunities within the parks.
This adjustment will create a safer and more enjoyable environment for visitors and staff alike. Limiting access after dark helps reduce vandalism, illegal dumping, unauthorized camping, and other after-hours activity that can negatively impact park facilities and natural habitats. The new hours will also assist maintenance crews and park staff in better managing the properties and addressing upkeep needs more efficiently.
This change aligns Greene County Parks & Trails with operating standards commonly used by park districts and recreation systems throughout the region. Sunrise-to-sunset hours are widely recognized as a practical balance between public accessibility and responsible stewardship of community parks and green spaces.
Greene County Parks & Trails remains committed to providing safe, clean, and welcoming spaces for residents and visitors while continuing to offer camping and outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the county.

The new pedestrian bridge is being constructed to directly connect the Little Miami Scenic Trail with Great Council State Park, creating a safer and more convenient route for pedestrians and cyclists traveling between the trail and the newest state park. To properly connect the bridge with the existing trail, construction crews are removing and rebuilding a portion of the current trail infrastructure. Project improvements will include raising the trail grade, installing new asphalt, and completing additional safety upgrades designed to improve the long-term quality and usability of the trail for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Clearly marked detours are in place throughout the project, and signage has been installed to help safely guide trail users around the closure. Cyclists are encouraged to use caution near detour routes and follow all posted construction and directional signage while work is underway.
We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during construction. Once completed, these improvements will enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall trail experience for future users. Re-opening of the trail is expected in mid to late June.
