DESCRIPTION:Bring your homeschool groups outside for hands-on science designed for all ages. Two programs are designed just for homeschoolers. They are called Homeschool Science Days and Homeschool Science Days DISCOVERY HIKES. \nHomeschool Science Days are station-based with various fun\, educational activities. These are drop in programs that begin at 10 am and go to noon. Please plan to arrive no later than 11:30 in order to have time to enjoy the activities. \nDress for the weather. DESCRIPTION:If you love our Full Moon Hikes\, you will love the New Moon Hike just as much! \nDuring this phase\, the moon is very close to the sun\, so it is hard to be seen by the naked eye.  The night sky on this lunar phase is usually darker and other astral objects can be more visible.  The illumination of this phase is almost\, if not zero! \nJoin us for a hike around Russ Nature Reserve on this moonless night! Will your eyes be able to adapt like our nocturnal friends?  Flashlights are allowed (if necessary) but we hope that you can allow your eyes time to adjust so you can see in the dark. \nThis hike will be led by two of our education team members!

SUMMARY:The Great Pumpkin Patch
DESCRIPTION:Did you enjoy growing up with Highlights Seek and Find puzzles? What if you and your kids could be part of a hide and seek game\, with the Russ Nature Reserve being your puzzle board? \nThat is right! Hundreds of pumpkins will be hidden along the trails at the Russ Nature Reserve and your child\, age 2-9\, will have to search and find pumpkins that match images on the cards we provide. Each child will be given a card with 10 different objects to find\, painted on the pumpkins. Once they find them\, cross them off and keep looking. When all 10 are found\, return to the tent for some fun money that is good to spend at our candy store and in our pumpkin patch (1 candy bag and pumpkin purchase per registered child). Children are encouraged to come in costume! \nThis is a FREE program\, registration is required and opens August 16th. If you register and are unable to attend\, please call so your spot does not go unused. \nThis is a drop-in program\, you can come any time between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
