Topics include: Merlin ID for bird identification\, iNaturalist for plant and animal identification\, OuterSpatial and AllTrails for maps and hiking\, and more! \nParticipants should have a device that will allow app downloading for the full experience. \nComing in 2026:\nApril – iNaturalist Bioblitz\nMay – Merlin & OuterSpatial \nOuterSpatial\nDiscover\, explore\, and connect with nature right from your phone! Our parks are featured on OuterSpatial\, a free mobile app that helps you plan adventures\, find trails\, and learn more about the natural and cultural stories that make our parks special. We carry the weight of those who have served—those lost on the battlefield\, on the streets of America\, and to their own struggles—by fostering a community of care\, compassion\, and commitment. Through education\, advocacy\, and action\, we are dedicated to providing the resources and support necessary to help prevent veteran suicide and ensure that no warrior is ever forgotten. Together\, we ruck\, we carry\, and we bear the burden\, working toward a future where our heroes find the peace\, support\, and recognition they deserve. \nFamilies are encouraged to “carry the weight” together at this FREE event.  Donations will be accepted on site and will benefit The Service Members Veterans Families (SMVF) subcommittee of the Greene County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

DESCRIPTION:Did you enjoy growing up with Highlights Seek and Find puzzles? What if you and your kids could be part of a hide and seek game\, with the Russ Nature Reserve being your puzzle board? \nThat is right! Hundreds of pumpkins will be hidden along the trails at the Russ Nature Reserve and your child\, age 4-12\, will have to search and find pumpkins that match images on the cards we provide. Each child will be given a card with 10 different objects to find\, painted on the pumpkins. Once they find them\, cross them off and keep looking. When all 10 are found\, return to the tent for some fun money that is good to spend at our candy store and in our pumpkin patch (1 candy bag and pumpkin purchase per registered child). Children are encouraged to come in costume! \nThis is a FREE program\, registration is required and opens August 16th. If you register and are unable to attend\, please call so your spot does not go unused. \nThis is a drop-in program\, you can come any time between 5:30 & 7:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your homeschool groups outside for hands-on science designed for all ages. Two programs are designed just for homeschoolers. They are called Homeschool Science Days and Homeschool Science Days DISCOVERY HIKES. \nHomeschool Science Days are station-based with various fun\, educational activities. These are drop in programs that begin at 10 am and go to noon. Please plan to arrive no later than 11:30 in order to have time to enjoy the activities. \nDress for the weather. This program will be entirely outdoors\, rain or shine.   There is a chance that participants may get muddy. \nAt least one adult must be present with each homeschool group. \nRegistration is no longer needed for the homeschool educational series.  \n\n\n\nInsects/Spiders\nSeptember is the BEST time to look for insects and spiders! The monarchs are migrating\, the praying mantises and garden spiders are full-size and every patch of flowers is buzzing with life!
