DESCRIPTION:Have you ever heard a bird and wondered what it was?  Seen a plant and were curious about it’s name?  Wanted to take a hike but weren’t sure of the best trails?  This series of nature tech for newbies is for you!  Each session will focus on a specific app or tech that makes nature more accessible. Topics include: Merlin ID for bird identification\, iNaturalist for plant and animal identification\, OuterSpatial and AllTrails for maps and hiking\, and more! \nParticipants should have a device that will allow app downloading for the full experience. \nComing in 2026:\nApril – iNaturalist Bioblitz\nMay – Merlin & OuterSpatial\niNaturalist Bioblitz\nDiscover the power of technology in nature! During this program\, participants will get a step-by-step introduction to the iNaturalist app. Including how to create an account\, take clear wildlife photos\, and upload observations. After the short tutorial\, we will head into the park for a mini BioBlitz\, a fun and fast-paced biodiversity challenge where we work together to find and document as many species as possible within a set area and time. Whether you are an avid nature lover or just curious about the world around you\, this event offers a great way to sharpen your observation skills\, connect with nature\, and join a global community of citizen scientists!

SUMMARY:Homeschool Science Days DISCOVERY HIKE: Wetlands - No Registration
DESCRIPTION:Bring your homeschool groups outside for hands-on science designed for all ages. Two programs are designed just for homeschoolers. They are called Homeschool Science Days and Homeschool Science Days DISCOVERY HIKES. \nHomeschool Science Days DISCOVERY HIKES last 90 minutes and cover seasonal topics such as wildflowers\, habitats\, animal tracking and more.  These discovery hikes are guided and will leave promptly at 10 am.  Late guests will have to catch up.  The hikes end at 11:30 am. \nDress for the weather. This program will be entirely outdoors\, rain or shine.   There is a chance that participants may get muddy. \nAt least one adult must be present with each homeschool group. \nRegistration is no longer needed for the homeschool educational series. \n\n\n\nDISCOVERY HIKE: Wetlands – Cemex Reserve\nWhat are the wetlands? What is a reserve? Why are they important? Your homeschoolers will learn these answers and so much more as they explore on of Greene County’s hidden gems. Starts at 10am sharp.
