The Spotted Turtle Trail Ribbon Cutting

October 12, 2021 at 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Ribbon CuttingHelp us celebrate Greene County’s newest treasure, right in your own backyard.
The Beaver Creek Wetlands Association, Greene County Parks & Trails, and other partners invite you to join us for an important milestone in Greene County’s natural legacy as we unveil Phase 1 of the Spotted Turtle Trail.

When finished, this $7.5 million trail will connect Zimmerman Prairie State Nature Preserve in the south to Pearl’s Fen in the north. All with an impressive system of trails, boardwalks, pedestrian bridges, and overlook platforms which will give residents and visitors unprecedented access to our local wetlands.

“I think this will be a great demonstration of the public/private partnership working together for the good of the whole,” said Chuck Frazier, senior manager for Greene County Parks & Trails. “I think this will become a real destination for folks near and far. People will be surrounded by a really interesting, diverse ecosystem as they traverse the trail.”
