GCP&T Trail Sentinels are an elite volunteer group who patrol the trails and coordinate several cycling events. Topics include: Merlin ID for bird identification\, iNaturalist for plant and animal identification\, OuterSpatial and AllTrails for maps and hiking\, and more! \nParticipants should have a device that will allow app downloading for the full experience. \nComing in 2026:\nApril – iNaturalist Bioblitz\nMay – Merlin & OuterSpatial\niNaturalist Bioblitz\nDiscover the power of technology in nature! During this program\, participants will get a step-by-step introduction to the iNaturalist app. Including how to create an account\, take clear wildlife photos\, and upload observations. After the short tutorial\, we will head into the park for a mini BioBlitz\, a fun and fast-paced biodiversity challenge where we work together to find and document as many species as possible within a set area and time. DESCRIPTION:Bring your homeschool groups outside for hands-on science designed for all ages. Two programs are designed just for homeschoolers. They are called Homeschool Science Days and Homeschool Science Days DISCOVERY HIKES. \nHomeschool Science Days DISCOVERY HIKES  last 90 minutes and cover seasonal topics such as wildflowers\, habitats\, animal tracking and more.  These discovery hikes are guided and will leave promptly at 10 am.  Late guests will have to catch up.  The hikes end at 11:30 am. \nDress for the weather. This program will be entirely outdoors\, rain or shine.   There is a chance that participants may get muddy. \nAt least one adult must be present with each homeschool group. \nRegistration is no longer needed for the homeschool educational series. \nDISCOVERY HIKE: Spring Wildflowers\nIndian Mound Reserve is an AMAZING place to see wildflowers. Bring your homeschoolers and hike the self-guided trail with informational signs by each of the wildflowers. Naturalists will be on hand to answer questions and lead quick activities along the way. The trails at Indian Mound reserve are rocky and not stroller friendly. You do not have to arrive right at 10:00 for this hike\, but try not to arrive any later than 10:30 so that you have time to enjoy it.

Water is encouraged. \nFlower Moon Hike\nLet’s celebrate the Flower Moon! Spring is here and it’s always fun to be out on a night hike. We may even smell the flowers as we explore Caesar Ford Park after dark. We are adding a fun twist to this hike as we are going to have a “flour trail.” UV lights and a trail of flour will lead you through the trails of Caesar Ford Park. UV lights will be available for loan while supplies last. This hike will be self-guided. A naturalist will be on hand for assistance and/or questions. You must start the hike no later than 9:30 pm.

Topics include: Merlin ID for bird identification\, iNaturalist for plant and animal identification\, OuterSpatial and AllTrails for maps and hiking\, and more! \nParticipants should have a device that will allow app downloading for the full experience. \nComing in 2026:\nApril – iNaturalist Bioblitz\nMay – Merlin & OuterSpatial \nOuterSpatial\nDiscover\, explore\, and connect with nature right from your phone! Our parks are featured on OuterSpatial\, a free mobile app that helps you plan adventures\, find trails\, and learn more about the natural and cultural stories that make our parks special. Participants will be instructed on how to download the app\, how different features work\, and will use it hands on by picking a hiking trail and going on an adventure with staff on hand to help guide your use.
